Pasquale Monaco è nato a Napoli il 13-08-1948. Vive a Roma dal 1983. Ha frequentato l’Istituto delle Porcellane di Capodimonte e l’Accademia Napoletana di Belle Arti. Dal 1970 svolge un’intensa attività artistica con numerosissime mostre personali e collettive. Ha ricevuto premi e significativi riconoscimenti e alcune sue mostre personali sono state seguite con attenzione dalla stampa e presentate da RAI 2. Nel 1978 ha eseguito una pala d’altare alla chiesa S. Francesco dei Padri Francescani di Pollica (CS). Le sue opere sono presenti in numerose collezioni private e pubbliche, sia in Italia che all’estero.
Nelle opere di Pasquale Monaco le soluzioni di spazio non si basano sulle costruzioni geometriche delle prospettive, ma sulla pura ed empirica concezione. Questo rende alcuni degli effetti meno completi, ma anche meno statici con il risultato edificante di una libertà maggiore del tratto che consente al colore di esplodere, con un’aggressività di estrazione espressionista. L’aspetto straordinario di Monaco è l’unione tra due elementi contrastanti, il tratto eccitato dionisiaco, armonizzato con la calma Olimpica che uniforma tutti i lati delle figure femminili e maschili.
Il titolo della mostra “Niagara, i migliori anni” e il dipinto della locandina sono un omaggio ed una testimonianza vissuta dal pittore Monaco all’età di 20 anni. Nel quartiere Vomero di Napoli degli anni 70, tutti i giovani come lo stesso Monaco amavano ascoltare musica e riunirsi nel fine settimana nelle cosiddette “comitive”. Niagara era il nome di un famoso locale sala da ballo dove si ascoltava buona musica. Questo dipinto è appunto nel ricordo degli anni belli....i migliori anni!
Con questa significativa e raffinata mostra di Pasquale Monaco, si chiude la 5° edizione del Vitala Festival, rassegna musicale e artistica di natura filantropica, organizzata da Fabiana De Rose, per riprendere con una nuova edizione a Settembre 2017, presso il Teatro San Genesio. Ringraziamo il pubblico che ci segue, i sostenitori della rassegna e il Teatro San Genesio.

Pasquale Monaco is a Rome based artist who has been active in the Rome street art scene for over 40 years. He was born in Naples on August 13, 1948, but has lived in Rome since 1983. He attended the institute of porcelain at Capodimonte and the school of fine arts in Naples. Monaco’s work has received enormous acclaim both in Italy and internationally. Even the television newscast has spoken of some of his art exhibitions. In 1978 he painted the alter-piece of St. Francis’ at Pollica (CS). His paintings are collected by exclusive clientele and his works belong to either private or public collections, both in Italy and abroad.
Between Impressionism and Expressionism:
In the art works of Pasquale Monaco the space solutions are based not on the geometric construction of the perspectives, but on a pure, empiricist solution of space. This renders some the effects less completed, but also less static with the edifying result of greater freedom of strokes that allows the colors to blast with aggressiveness of expressionist extraction. The remarkable thing of Monaco is the union between two contrasting elements, the excite stroke of dionisiac felling, harmonized with the Olympic calm that conforms all the faces of the feminine and masculine figures.
The title of the exhibition “Niagara, i migliori anni” and the painting selected as poster are a tribute and testimony of the lovely times lived by the artist Monaco when he was 20 years old. In the Neapolitan neighborhood called Vomero, in the 70’s, all the young people, like Monaco himself, loved listening to music and gathering together over the weekend. Niagara was the name of a famous club where good live music was performed. This painting is a memory of those years....the best years, i migliori anni!
This refined and important exhibition of Pasquale Monaco’s artwork, closes the 5th edition of the Vitala Festival, events in support of music and art, organized by Fabiana De Rose. The next edition with a new calendar of events, will be opening in September 2017, at Teatro San Genesio.
